From THL Roana:

Ladies and Gentlemen, I wish to present this year’s menu for the Festival of Maidens. It is, of course, subject to change as needs must. This menu involves a number of Farm-to-Table items worth your notice. If the item has a star, we will be growing or raising that menu item on the Vail farm, or it will be made from scratch. This menu is a nod to our event theme of “This time it’s Persona-L”, and is from a tour of the Mediterranean Sea.

On Table:
Marinated mushrooms*, Pickled eggs*, Crusty bread*, Quince Jam, Flavored butters, Cheese*

Winter squash soup

1st course:

Roasted chicken in French Herbs & Sauces*, Hashed chard & Spinach, Garlic Torta

2nd course:

King of Meats (sausages)*, Cheese Gnocchi, Eggplant in Sauce, King Manfred’s Torta*

Maidens Directions & Parking

To the Illini Union

To McKinley Presbyterian Church & Foundation

Parking options are available all over campus, though we’ve tried to find the closest and best spaces for you. This Google map shows the area around the event sites, with the Illini Union, McKinley Presbyterian, and nearby parking lots labeled for you.

When searching for your own spaces, it is imperative that you read the large blue signs at all University parking lots. Some parking lots are metered 24/7, and some are not available to the public at all (like the Illini Union Hotel lot). Our map (linked above) identifies which parking lots are best for your purposes.

We will have bagged spaces at the front of the Union for loading and unloading only, and five designated handicapped spaces. Please unload your belongings quickly, then move your vehicle so that others may do the same. Parking is strictly prohibited in the Fire Lane, and vehicles will be ticketed and towed if left there. If you expect to need one of the handicapped spaces, please let us know when you arrive onsite.

The Union is a beautiful neo-French deco building with plenty of space for everything while easy to navigate and find your way. The building is fully wheelchair-accessible, has lots of hotel rooms available on-site, and is in the heart of campus, so plenty of restaurants to try. It is a dry site.  As per Illinois law, this public building is smoke-free, and we ask that all participants step no less than 50 feet from any door if they decide to brave the cold for a smoke.

Please note that the site requests that all outside food be eaten in the basement food court.

Please feel free to contact the Event Steward with any questions you may have.
